Krav Maga and The Beginning of Desire

Will power, passion, and desire play a key factor in Krav Maga training.

Do you want to be a great musician? Do you want to be a great artist? Do you want to be a great teacher? It all begins with desire. Write it down, Desire, with a capital D.

Moshe teaching in Kiev, it all starts with desire.

Feel the passion stirring in your soul, imagine yourself being lost in a mesmerizing guitar solo, see yourself flying off on the notes. Feel the fire down below, feel your soul rising. This is where dreams are born; this is where serious pursuits begin.

Do you want to be great at something? Well you can go to a guidance counselor, you can take an aptitude test and you can have someone else tell you what you are good at. They can tell you where you natural skills lie but they can never give you passion. That must be yours; that must come from within.

Do you really want something but you are worried because you have been told that you don't have what it takes? Have you been told that you are wasting your time because you don’t' have the natural talent required for this task? Will you let these people crush your soul?

It all begins with desire. Desire is not talent, desire is not ability. Desire and passion cannot be bought or sold. There is no price on a man's soul.

Are there guarantees in life? No, certainly not. And yes, most men will die with not half their desires fulfilled, but don't let anyone stand in your way. My dad loved and lived the song "The Impossible Dream"; to dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe. You may not always win but you must never quit, for your very efforts change the world, "For the world will be better for this, that one man with his last ounce of courage." reached for the impossible dream.

Do not let any man kill your spirit or your passion. Do not let any man tell you that you simply have no chance. The world has been changed by men and women who refused to see their shortcomings and disabilities but only saw their opportunities and possibilities. The great Bruce Lee had a sign in his home; it read simply, "Move On." When times were tough, and they usually were, he looked at this sign and it gave him courage.

This is not Pollyanna nonsense or new age fluff. For time immemorial this has been true. If there is one thing that makes you unique it is your spirit, your passion, your desire. Let it take you where no man has gone before. "Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind. (Rolling Stones)

Let your burning desire be your guide . Logic does not stand in the way of true desire. The entire State of Israel defies logic; one tiny Jewish state, made up of refugees from around the world, surviving and thriving in a sea of Middle Eastern medieval fanatical hatred. As a people we survived the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Romans, the Third Reich and the Soviet Empire. Yet we live and are free.

Krav Maga is a symbol of human passion; the desire to be free, the desire to live on our own terms. Do you want to succeed? Do you want to be an instructor? It is in your hands, and in your heart. Let no one stop you.
