Streets Have No Pity

Some people get though life by manipulating others. Some people buy, cheat, and lie their way through life. It works for some people. I have met people with diplomas not worth the paper they are printed on. I have seen people get jobs they were totally unqualified for. We all known of the Elizabeth Holmes and Bernie Madoff types who for years managed to fool and hoodwink others. We know about them because eventually they were caught with their pants down and exposed. But there are many others whom we don't know about it, as they succeeded in fooling us. Many have died with their secrets. Their lives were lies and they got away with it.
Joseph Stalin manipulated his way to control the largest country on earth, the USSR, the Soviet Union. He was never elected nor appointed. Adolf Hitler manipulated the German government into giving him complete power. He got away with it. Until this very day no one knows for sure if he was a brilliant evil genius or a mad man.
In life it is very difficult to know the truth, until..It... Happens.
There are many claims in martial arts. When the UFC began (Ultimate Fighting Championship, free style, open to all styles), the weakness of many systems became quite clear. In the truth of combat weakness is exposed for all to see.
In our style of Krav Maga we do not deal with tournaments or sports competition. There is value in that, but I personally made the choice to focus my career on practical self-defense, on survival on the street. There is an old expression, The streets have no pity.
You cannot "manipulate" the streets. Your plastic surgery, your expensive suits and your diplomas will not help you on the street. Either you know how to survive, or you don't. We learn from the street. IKI has gone through great transformations over the past twenty years, we learn, we adapt, we grow.
The streets have no pity, so we take old "classic" Krav Maga techniques, we take knife disarms, we take traditional concepts like "communicating with your assailant" as if he gives a crap about your pathetic life story, we take wrist manipulations and we dump all that in the nearest trash can. The streets have no pity. And as such, we have no nostalgic feelings for old Krav Maga techniques. Leave that to the museum.
On the streets, if you mess up, you die. So we do not give out false ranks. We do not sell ranks. We do not give you false confidence. We teach you the best survival concepts that you can apply on the street, and we teach you how to think, how to understand. Our system uproots many old concepts in Krav Maga, uproots them from the source and exposes their fallacy. "Trees that stood a thousand years suddenly shall fall" (Robert Zimmerman)
The streets have no pity. We must understand the streets, we must understand the values of our attackers whether that be a terrorist in Gaza or a gang member in East LA. We must not try Hollywood stunts on the streets, fancy knife disarms, or any sort of join manipulations as a means of disarming a gun. It is all false.
Our students have proven themselves on the streets, disarming attackers in Mexico, South Africa, Puerto Rico and all over the world. We currently operate in 40 countries. We seek to spread real self-defense for real ordinary people. We leave the stunts and the fancy trash, the bravado and the so-called bad ass, to others. We keep it real because the streets have no names, and the streets have no mercy, no pity.
You must learn to defend yourself when the S..t hits the fan, when you feel like pooping in your pants, when your worst nightmare happens. This Is Reality.
