Seasons Past

Coffee, memories, faces, seasons that have passed, smiles we have seen, smiles we have made.

Trying to visit more family and friends on this tour, how many seasons do we have left?

I am sitting in a wonderful hotel, Chalet El Tirol, in the magnificent San Rafael mountains of Costa Rica. I am alone on a Monday morning, my friend Edgar brings me my cafe negro, local Britt coffee, a warm greeting and a strong friendly embrace. I sip the coffee and can picture my dad sipping coffee, slowly.

Time slips away, images fade.

How many lives have we touched?

Coffee with cousins, Boston, New York, take the time before time takes us. Repair those relationships that need and can be repaired. Let anger slip away with the power of forgiveness.

The coffee is strong; smiles, memories come back, the past is alive again, a feeling of Gratitude for Life.

When we approach life with a feeling of Gratitude, every day is brighter, every face is prettier, every dispute becomes like snowflakes that melt away on contact.

Krav Maga is not only about facing obstacles and overcoming them. It is not only about facing challenges; it is more about learning to avoid these obstacles. It is about preparation and preventative training. So many of our conflicts are avoidable, if only people behaved a little more maturely and spoke openly to each other. Why does it take us so long to learn this?

Soft music playing in the background, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I recall playing this song for my dear mother when she overcame breast cancer. And I said, "Mom, we made it! We overcame Cancer." But now I listen, and she is gone, she is over the big Rainbow. I am grateful for the time, heartbroken by the loss.

Gratitude, Forgiveness, Patience.

Gratitude. Treasure what is important in life, that is what this journey is about.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, dreams come true...
