Disappointing Criminals

Inspiration is everywhere, especially on advertisements. Some marketing expert spends a lot of time coming up with a clever twist or phrase, and I use it to inspire people to train in Krav Maga. Just paying it forward. We are driving through Gaborone, Botswana, my first visit to this beautiful country, and I see a sign that reads, "Disappointing Criminals since...some date".
It was for a private security company, clever idea. Good security disappoints the criminals but protects the rightful owners of the property. The application to Krav Maga training is obvious.
I thought of my dear mother, may she rest in peace, whenever something bad happened she would say, Life is full of disappointments, to be honest, I did not like that. Yes, that was true, and she wanted me to understand the reality of life, that often, very often, we will be disappointed, and we must learn how to deal with it. We never promised you a rose garden. My mother did not want me to live a life of delusion. She wanted me to see the truth, no matter how bitter. And yet, we must do our best to fight back. As General Patton said, don't die for your country, made the other poor bastard die for his country. So while life is indeed full of disappointment, let us try and pass that disappointment on to those who are trying to disapoint us. Let us surprise them and ruin their day!
And that is what Krav Maga is all about; not allowing yourself to become a victim. Your assailant wanted to hurt you, rob you, humiliate you, well, I hope he is prepared for a major disappointment, we will be ready, and we will prepare you to be ready. We have been disappointing criminals, rapists, muggers etc since 1993.
